What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)? Launched in 2013, the NDIS is the national program to support people living with disability and is administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). FBA CARE is registered by the NDIA as a disability services provider. People who are eligible for support under the NDIS are known as “participants” and must first contact a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to arrange their plan and budget. In Victoria, there are three LACs – Brotherhood of Saint Laurence, Latrobe Health Services and Intereach – but in any one place there is just one LAC to contact. For more information, see the NDIS
